We took a day exploring some of the best sites in this county, including our first glance at the English Channel. Our first stop, however, was the STUNNING Corfe Castle ruins. This fortification was originally built by William the Conqueror and dates back to the 11th Century and was one of the first castles built of stone. It has a long history of sieges and treachery and was partially destroyed by Parliament in the 1600’s to ensure it wasn’t in the wrong hands. Those English royals and nobles…with friends and family like that who needs enemies!

Our first spot of rain hit as we came to Durlston Castle on the coast overlooking the English Channel. Rather than the picnic we planned, we took advantage of the Mercedes’ console!
