Last stop before London is the capital of Belgium, often referred to the capital of Europe for hosting EU institutions. More importantly to us, Brussels is equally famous for waffles, chocolate and fries!
We stayed in the city center at the beautiful Fleur de Ville, a restored bank building turned boutique hotel. Steps from everything and a restful retreat at the end of each day.

Our first full day was spent wandering the shops and markets of city center. We started the day at one of the lovely little cafes; stopped into Aux Merveilleux for a lovely sandwich and my new obsession, brioche with chocolate; and ended the evening at a highly recommended fish place, Bia Mara. All were outstanding! Brussels is living up to its reputation as a food town!
